PayPal India Domestic Engineering Team

The India based “PayPal India Domestic Engineering Team” is responsible for triggering new initiatives for PayPal India and emerging markets with focus on agility, time to market and innovation. The group will help roll out new features to the India market, and has embarked upon some new and exciting opportunities including. The engineers in this team also have a unique opportunity of working closely with the local India business team, customer support teams, product owners and other global product and engineering teams. The scope of problems to solve for our Indian customer base is large, and this team will be in the center of all the action for growing and scaling PayPal’s payments platform in the world’s largest democracy.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a software engineer should put customer first as part of day-day work.

  • Ensure that the design and implementation adheres to defined specs and processes.

  • Collaboratively work with cross-functional teams across the globe.

  • Own end-to-end quality of deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle.

  • Understand technical designs by working within PayPal’s cross-functional technology team.

  • Collaborate between business, product and technology in the process of understanding the requirement and coming up with implementation options

  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment and manage continuously changing business needs

  • Be a technology evangelist who can marry business needs with technology solves.

  • Research, assess, and recommend external technologies and products for their applicability to project requirements

  • Understand the payments business and how technology decisions impact the business. Sense evolving business trends and translate them into needs into technology solves.

Technical Skills

  • Strong programming skills and expertise in Node.js

  • Strong working experience in Java/J2EE and Object Oriented Design

  • Experience with open source test automation and CI tools

  • Strong understanding of web-based programming languages and scripting

  • Experience working with databases such as MySQL/ Oracle etc.

  • Exposure to one or more server side scripting technologies

  • Knowledge of REST APIs

  • Knowledge of open source frameworks

  • Contributed to high traffic Web and Service oriented apps using Open Source Technologies

  • Experience in refactoring existing code base and in understanding existing implementations to decide to refactor or rewrite.

  • Be a quick learner undaunted by complex systems.

  • Take risks and thrive in an environment of constant change.

  • Ability to hit the ground running from day 1 working on various systems and working independently.

  • Exposure and participation in tech events, hackathons, contributions to open source, authoring of blogs and active participation in online tech forums is a plus.

Educational Qualifications

  • BSCS or equivalent + 6 years of experience / MSCS + 4 years of experience in software development
