Broadly the CRS team is responsible for research, development, implementation, and maintenance of PayPal’s Consumer Risk Management model strategy, solutions, and policies.
This particular role would be supporting the expansion of 2 primary emerging strategic markets, India and Latin America. The position involves fast paced developments in fraud patterns, managing the potentially high pressure business escalations that result from these behaviors, and timely investigation, development, and implementation of data driven solutions. Ideal candidates should enjoy general problem solving and have a desire to find root cause drivers for fraud behaviors.
In addition the responsibilities will include:
Mitigate flash fraud attacks through heuristic expert rules as well as data driven algorithms. Develop, maintain, and enhance long term scalable rule solutions.
Respond to risk mitigation needs of high value customers and strategic business partners. Establish proactive monitoring and timely mitigation of potential fraud attacks.
Ensure accurate implementation of risk decision solutions while supporting their deployment and maintenance.
Collaborate with key stakeholders such as account management, risk operations, and risk consulting. Establish proper escalation processes and communication channels.
Apply both data driven learnings and business expertise to policy enhancements and solution accuracy improvements to help maintain a balanced focus of loss reduction, profitability, and customer experience.
Create, or enhance existing, analytical toolset to help gain efficiencies in various work processes.
Strong common sense, logical thinking and problem solving skills. Requires the ability to synthesize information and generalize the pattern.
Must have strong analytical skills. Experience working with large amounts of data and implementing data driven solutions is preferred.
Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SQL/SAS, decision tree software, or equivalent software is required. Knowledge of Predicative Modeling, statistical methodologies, and data mining is preferred.
Requires excellent communication skills with experience presenting findings to a large audience and across different levels of the organization.
Great inter-personal skills, ability to manage relationships with key partners and collaborate with remote teams effectively.
Must have terrific business acumen, previous fraud experience and PayPal knowledge are preferred.
Ability to work independently, comfort with ambiguity, and strong deliverability within strict time frames.
Knowledge of decision engine tools and processes is a plusBachelors Degree from a quantitative discipline such as computational finance, statistics, computer science, operations research, or mathematics. Masters Degree in a similar discipline preferred. Minimum of 3 years work experience in a relevant field (1+ with Masters degree), preferably within the areas of Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, or Decision Management in a financial institution. Minimum of 2 years experience with database query language such as SQL, or comparable programming/scripting language.Fluency in windows based applications. Strong analytical thinking/problem solving skills, quick learner, comfort with ambiguity. Proven ability to work with a team as well as work independently with minimum direction
