In this position, you will play a major role in providing AML Policy advisory, guidance and direction to business units, operational support areas, and product areas that are critical to the effectiveness of PayPal’s world-class, global program around financial crime compliance. You will in that way be instrumental in preventing the exploitation of PayPal’s services for illicit purposes and ensuring compliance with complex financial industry legal requirements in areas such as anti-money laundering, counter terrorist financing, financial intelligence and suspicious activity reporting.
You will draw on your AML experience to help ensure compliance with PayPal Policies and Standards, as well as Global compliance expectations throughout PayPal’s footprint. In this role you will responsible for meeting with business, technology and compliance professionals and utilize your exceptional communication skills to support PayPal’s objectives in Financial Crime detection and prevention. This role is responsible for ensuring Policies and Standards are updated at least annually, and defining ways to enhance Policy and Standards to optimize on efficiency while still meeting PayPal’s regulatory expectations globally. This role is also responsible for providing AML advisory to business and product areas and to assist PayPal with integration of new ventures and opportunities.
You will work in close collaboration with multiple areas of the company in multiple regions across PayPal’s footprint. This role will report into the Senior Manager, AML Advisory and requires a candidate that can work well as a team but often times in a sole-contributor capacity to address specific needs for our Program and to support our business areas.
•Review and update AML guidelines, standards, policies and other governance documentation
•Participation in onsite due diligence and integration planning for new PayPal ventures
•Provide exceptional guidance and AML advisory to various areas of the company to include product, technology and operational support areas
•Stay apprised of AML regulatory changes globally to assist in determining PayPal impacts and drive program changes
•Participate in AML projects and initiatives as applicable and complete assigned areas of support timely with impeccable quality and timeliness
•Participate in Business Change processes and evaluate new/existing products in order to determine AML risks and appropriate controls to mitigate presented risks
•Provide clear and succinct communication both verbally and in writing to all levels of management and staff
Education and Experience
Seven years of AML/BSA experience in a Policy/Advisory capacity providing AML guidance to satisfy regulatory requirements and support the Policies of an organization
Bachelor’s degree required;
Substantive knowledge of legal, policy and/or operational aspects of financial crime compliance programs (e.g., AML/CTF, CDD, SARs, sanctions/OFAC, ABC and/or financial crime investigations)
CAMS certification is desiredCompetencies
Exceptional writing skills, particularly skill in creating high-quality documents that prescribe or govern the AML activities – such as policies and procedures, guidelines, or job aides.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support effective collaboration related to new or revised policy documents within a fast-paced environment and across global regions and cultures, including a capacity for building consensus in the face of divergent interests or viewpoints.
Attention to detail, strong work ethic, good humor and enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges. Ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously, with effective resolution of competing priorities.
