At PayPal, we have built an internal marketing shared services team to help plan, execute, measure, optimize, and report digital campaigns for a wide breadth of marketing stakeholders across the business. The Sr. Paid Search Manager role is part of the Paid Channel Strategy and Optimization Team (PCSO). This role will collaborate with Display, Paid Social, and Media Analytics leads in an ongoing endeavor to innovate and drive growth for digital programs. The PCSO team works with a team of digital channel strategy leads (CDI), which in turn support the marketing needs of stakeholders across all LOB. This role will report directly to the Head of US Paid Media.
The Sr. Manager of Paid Search Marketing will be responsible for driving SEM optimization strategy and operations, paid landing page/content optimization and experimentation, and general project management with the prime objective of scaling and optimizing the non-trademark portion of Paypal Search Engine Marketing. He/she will drive the evolution of audience-first planning and MTA optimization for the SEM channel. This role will lead the agency relationship, but will also play a key role in migrating the full end-to-end operations of paid search to an in-house model over the course of the next two years.
The ideal candidate for this role will have several years agency-side experience in supporting the data-driven optimization and analysis of paid search media along with a strong knowledge of today's digital ecosystem. He/she must demonstrate an expert-level understanding of digital data tracking, spanning site-side and ad-side (tag management, conversion/event tagging, ad tagging, etc.). This candidate must have a compassion for data-driven analysis and insights, and an affinity for the proactive discovery, communication & visualization of those insights.
Annual & quarterly strategic planning for US Paid Search programs and develop media plans
Partner with international paid marketing leads in global forums to facilitate the sharing of insights, and coordinate channel innovation across regions
Evaluate new optimization strategies, automated tools and tech, and new opportunities in the search industry
Work closely with SEM agency to facilitate long tail keyword optimization and growth, provide ongoing analysis, and report key insights back to the head of paid media
Manage SEM budget and campaigns on behalf of a wide breadth of business units and products at PayPal
Collaborate with Paid Channel leads in the analysis and transition to multi-touch attribution optimization
Partner with Paid Search agency and paid channel leads on tactical-level performance, and help to translate these insights into actionable optimization plans
Develop data views and visuals to assist in executive reporting and storytelling of digital channel health and performance
Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Analytics and Data Science partners to explore modeling and optimization opportunities
Building and enhancing reporting infrastructures and templated data visuals/dashboards
7-10 years of experience: Expert in Paid Search Engine Marketing and Digital Marketing roles
Expert-level experience and proven knowledge with AdWords and Google Analytics
Team management: Required experience managing a team of SEM specialists
Required experience with large marketing budgets (>$10M)
DCM and general DoubleClick experience ==> The role will spend a great deal of time proactively compiling insights & identifying opportunities using the various tools offered through DoubleClick, and working with paid channel leads & agency to translate insights into actionable optimization plans
An affinity for developing strong data visuals, and the proven ability to develop slides that effectively communicate the story to any level of business
Demonstrated understanding of database systems/platforms, data taxonomy, data transfer and general infrastructure
Active monitoring and sharing of industry news, online marketing trends, industry tools, and internal cross-team key learning
Proven experience with forecasting, channel yield and optimization, marketing funnel analysis, incrementality testing, and audience segmentation
Digital Marketing Platform/Tools Experience: Ad serving and ad trafficking, multi-touch attribution, media mix modeling, programmatic marketing, mobile marketing
