Job Description

PayPal is seeking a Business Intelligence Intern who loves working with data, writing code and analyzing issues.

This role will work with the BI team as part of the PayPal global analytics organization to support internal and client reporting and data management needs. We’re looking for the highest levels of technical talent, with a keen desire to deeply understand our data to improve our Reporting and Analytics product. You will leverage our existing data repositories as well as have significant input into the mechanisms for data ingestion. The ideal candidate will be very comfortable with writing complex Python scripts as well as SQL queries and stored procedures. On this team, you will develop a deep understanding of the payments business, further strengthen your analytic, technical, and communication skills, and gain exposure to a wide variety of functional teams within PayPal.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creation and maintenance of Python scripts to produce data feeds to be sent to external parties.

  • Develop and maintain integrations to a variety of data sources, including Oracle and other unstructured data.

  • Assist in creation of support centered alerts, troubleshooting and reporting within internal logging aggregation tool.

  • Work with our Engineering team in order to identify and plan for data architecture changes that will impact all reporting environments.

  • Building key data sets to empower operational and exploratory analysis.

  • Leverage data and business principles to solve large scale data infrastructure problems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing MBA or BA/BS Degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science.

  • 1+ year in Python and SQL or proficient code writing capability in other programming languages.

  • Excellent understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms and operating systems.

  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset. Passionate about writing code.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • DB/data warehouse expertise desired.

  • Experience in Tableau Server and Desktop.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide insights from data sets.

  • Experience with Splunk Enterprise searches and alerts.

This Co-op is for the Spring 2019 semester and you must be available to work full time from January to August 2019.
