You will be part of Global Credit Modeling team which focuses on building cutting edge models for PayPal’s global credit products. We use data, technology and algorithms to drive business results and improve customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee credit models development and governance/regulatory reviews

• Be primary contact for model risk management, governance, legal/compliance, business units, external partners and other key stakeholders

• Prepare responses for legal, governance, internal audit and external regulators requests.

• Collaborate with model risk management team for the model risk rating and reporting

• Be responsible for ongoing monitoring and validation of models

• Be the escalation point for resolving problems or issues related to credit models as they arise.

• Provide significant insight and influence into the yearly and quarterly model risk strategy and roadmap including plans for functional enhancements.

• Obtain ongoing education to remain a subject matter expert in model risk, applicable regulations, and systems in order to appropriately train and educate team members as needed.


  • 8+ years prior work experience in the financial services industry with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Credit Risk Management, Credit Models Development or Model Risk Management.

  • 3+ years of hands-on end-to-end model development and/or validation experience required

  • Expert knowledge of internal control and risk management concepts, consumer lending industry practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Understanding of OCC 2011-12 and SR 11-7 guidance on model risk management

  • Proficient in one or more model development tools (SAS/Python/R etc.)

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Must be able to communicate effectively (orally and written) with professionalism and possess solid presentation skills

  • Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving and decision-making skills, be self-disciplined and motivated, and be able to handle pressure and stress generated by multiple tasks, deadlines, and interruptions.

  • Must be able to prioritize tasks according to importance and be detail oriented and complete work in a timely, accurate and complete manner.

  • Advanced degree such as Masters / Ph.D. in Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering or other related analytical field.
