The Compliance team is responsible for the design, development, and support of Compliance APIs that are integrated with key strategic partners. Our solutions need to scale across millions of such interactions, working with petabyte-plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business. In PayPal, we develop massively scalable, distributed software systems that require high availability to our business. To achieve this we are always looking at advances in technology and science and tying those back to business needs.

We are always looking for strong technologists who are passionate to solve large scale highly complex computer engineering problems, in a repeatable and maintainable way. You will build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms, along with a technical fascination for how everything ties together.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain business-critical systems.

  • Work with other engineers, managers, and operations to ensure that systems meets reliability, accuracy and performance goals.

  • Be able to independently design, code and test complex features, as well as lead small teams.

  • Help identify and fix performance, scalability and other issues in a time critical manner.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience developing software, primarily with object-oriented languages such as JAVA/J2EE.

  • Deep Familiarity with javaScript and Server side javaScript framework such as NodeJS.

  • Experience with client side javaScript framework such as React, Angular.

  • Experience with web front end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Webpack, LESS, Bootstrap.

  • Deep understanding of and extensive experience applying advanced object-oriented design and development principles.

  • Experience developing data-driven applications using an industry standard RDBMS (Oracle, DB2, etc.), including strong data architecture and SQL development skills.

  • Experience collaborating with business users to define the key business requirements and translate them into process/technical solutions.

  • Experience in Unix based development environment (Unix, Shell, Perl, Python) is a plus.

  • Experience applying software design patterns.

  • Experience with unit testing and tools.

  • Experience using industry standard software development tools (IDE / Version Control / Continuous Integration).

  • Expertise in online payments and related domains is a plus.
