Engineer within the Identity Domain that will be responsible for:

• API designs and patterns

• Orchestration logic and components

• Data access logic and components

• Dabbling in Web Application

We are creating a world where ‘payments’ is synonymous with PayPal. The PayPal Platform is a suite of web services, which are used by internal and external developers to enable payments anytime, anywhere and anyway.

The Identity Platform processes billions of requests each month, and enables PayPal and its partners to rapidly innovate on new authentication and authorization scenarios and enable new functionality and experiences. Therefore, the evolution of the Platform is integral to PayPal’s long-term strategy.

As an engineer in our development team you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Identity Platform mainly supporting user experiences on various channels (web, mobile, etc.), as well as integrations with partners with some time spent developing such experiences. You will work closely with product and experience and/or integration teams to understand the developer needs and deliver the functionality that meets their needs.

Essential Job Expectations

  • Experience in developing software for distributed systems with the high performance, scalability and availability

  • Articulate and communicate design and development processes to technical and non-technical team members

  • Own and drive development and delivery of features in the Platform

  • Provide and receive design and implementation evaluations and improve per iteration

  • Familiar and comfortable with the technologies, the tradeoffs, and the design patterns emerging in web services

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You have a bias towards action and results

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in designing orchestration oriented services

  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English

  • Excellent knowledge of programming languages, especially Java. Scala enthusiasts welcomed, but JAVA experience is a minimum.

  • Experienced in using Relational (such as Oracle) and Non-Relational Databases

  • Experienced in using frameworks such as RestEasy, Spring, Apache CXF and Jersey

  • Experienced in using build tools and source code repository tools such as: GiT, GitHub, Pull Request review, Gitflow branching strategies, Maven

  • Experience in developing and executing functional and integration tests

  • Experience in developing and designing high performance, scalable and available web services (predominantly REST architecture) using J2EE and concurrency frameworks such as Akka, JAVA Concurrency package

  • BS in Computer Science or related degree required. MS preferred. Equivalent work experience accepted. (i.e. 4 to 7 years of experience)

  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and design patterns, and programming skills

  • Experience in designing, developing and delivering software and/or platforms used by other developers,

  • Good understanding of web services and SOA related standards like REST/OAuth/JSON.

  • Experience in Node.Js is a plus or interested in developing.
