The Company

The Transaction Engineering (TE) team is at the heart of what PayPal does and handles most payment transactions that involve PayPal. Its mission is to deliver a great payment experience while ensuring high availability and extreme reliability. The Core Payments team is looking for an enthusiastic C++/Java Engineer to build backend services. You will be responsible for working on applications and services that handle all of PayPal transactions. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and experimentation are a given.

Typical TE team engineer responsibilities include:

  • Design, development, and testing of features/functions delivered via applications and services

  • Collaborating with peers and seniors both within their team and across the organization

  • Working with product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time

  • Working with operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable

  • Supporting your applications and/or services as and when required on a 24x7 basis

  • Experience with high scalability and availability applications is a plus.

  • 70% of development in C++, 30% in Java

Job Requirements:

  • 7+ year experience in developing object oriented software in C++ Experience in java, REST Web Services is a plus

  • Competent in designing and building Restful Services in a commercial setting

  • Competent in design/implementation for reliability, availability, scalability and performance

  • Competent in software engineering tools and best practices

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent
