Job Description

Merchant Services is looking for an experienced tech lead fluent with both C++ and Java to migrate features on legacy C++ code base to the new Java infrastructure. Besides legacy migration, your responsibilities also include feature development and new infrastructure enhancements on merchant setting and preferences.

Merchant Services is looking for an experienced tech lead fluent with both C++ and Java to migrate features on legacy C++ code base to the new Java infrastructure. This is very challenge and critical mission. We are counting on your to analyze use cases in legacy C++ flows and come up innovative solutions to separate various dependencies in legacy code to well organized REST APIS in Java. The solutions need to be comprehensive and scalable and ideally applicable to other PayPal domains which face the same challenge. You will lead a project team to deliver the solutions. You will be responsible for the technical strategies, prioritization, compromise, and communications with various dependency teams.

Besides legacy migration, your responsibilities also include feature development and new infrastructure enhancements on merchant setting and preferences. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy driving innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development. You will be responsible for sound technical execution of projects through prototyping, hands-on development, quality-assurance, and production rollout.

Key Qualifications:

  • BS in EE/CS or equivalent work experience and successful completion of major projects for which you can show code examples.

  • 8+ years of in depth programming in C++ and Java.

  • Development experience with restful services,

  • Hands-on experience with developing restful APIs and SQL and noSQL DataBase

  • Strong object-oriented design and programming skills and concepts

  • Have a passion for quality and writing clean and solid code that scales and performs well.

  • Strong desire to learn, push the envelope, and share knowledge with others.

  • Thorough technical documentation.

  • Experience with leading a project team; multi-tasking and prioritization.

  • Good communications

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver code within schedule in an Agile software development

  • Responsible for own code quality with automated test cases covering >90% of code

  • Participate in development life cycle activities like design, coding, testing and production release.

  • Partner closely with product to craft great product experiences.

  • Lead technical solutions and project teams – responsible for deliverables of the whole project team.

  • Ramp up and train junior team members.

  • Be proactive with identifying areas for improvement and innovation to improve development productivity

  • Communications and collaboration with architects and dependency teams.

  • Additional Requirements - experience with high scalability and availability applications is a plus.
