The Storage Engineer will perform a variety of assignments and support tasks associated with SAN and NAS Storage administration, Backups, and vulnerability mitigation for PayPal’s production corporate IT environment. With minimal supervision, the candidate will be responsible for implementing and supporting enterprise data-center and regional storage infrastructure, including all aspects of day-to-day administration, problem resolution, capacity planning, and support of end users.
SAN storage and fabric administration, storage provisioning, zoning, troubleshooting
NAS administration including volume creation, permission management, troubleshooting
Acknowledge and resolve user service requests utilizing the service request management system
Vulnerability tracking and mitigation
On-Call rotation availability (typically 1 week on/4 weeks off)
File permission troubleshooting and cleanup
Report creation and metric analysis
Install system hardware and software, ensuring proper performance and stabilized systems
Work closely with Server Administration, Network, Messaging, and Security Teams to ensure optimum efficiency and security of the environment
Perform storage/server/database transaction and security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data
Storage migrations (NAS and SAN)
Maintain frequent interaction with internal and vendor technical staffs and project managers to ensure effective delivery of solutions in accordance with project timelines and associated budgets
