Within the Finance Operations team, this role is responsible for the supervision of Accounts Payable (AP) activities for the APAC region.
Responsible for the supervision of Accounts Payable (AP) operations for the APAC region, including the full cycle of AP activities: invoice receipt, invoice posting including correct GST/VAT capture, invoice payment and subsequent vendor query management, performance and reporting and month-end account reconciliation reviews.
Monitors the performance of the outsourcing team under a third party Business process outsourcing arrangement and acts as point of contact for escalations and a liaison with internal departments to improve customer service and resolve issues and concerns.
Provides interpretation and explanation to the outsourcing team on PayPal’s internal financial controls, ensuring that they are timely informed about and trained on policies and procedures, tax regulations, and related information.
Ensures that controls are in place and consistently applied in line with recommended internal SOX practices. Oversees the disbursements forecast process, audits and approves payments to vendors, employees and tax authorities in compliance with country laws and regulations in a timely and accurate manner.
Designs and presents statistical reports for management and stakeholders in the business units, comparing performance to agreed KPIs, quantifying potential risks, highlighting exceptions and analysing their root cause.
Assists the global process owner to revise, develop, and implement accounts payable policies and procedures by informing about APAC-specific regulatory and fiscal requirements.
Organises and holds trainings on AP-related matters to the wider stakeholder group (business units, controllership team, FP&A team, etc.).
Promotes continuous improvement of AP processes, manages regional priorities and projects to implement global strategies regarding automation, application of RPI and AI. Contributes to setting short and long range goals for the wider AP team and sets priorities for the APAC region.
Supports the outsourcing operations manager with staff direction and support, counseling and training, and provides feedback about performance for staff management and evaluation.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in support of the mission of the global AP team.
Minimum of 5 years relevant accounts payable experience
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles applicable to accounts payable
Understanding of the internal control requirements associated with accounts payable
Demonstration of strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work collaboratively, and function independently
Ability to build rapport with a team of internal stakeholders as well as virtual outsourcing staff
Ability to supervise a complex AP process for 10+ legal entities and assess performance for a group of 10+ outsourcing company employees
Proficiency with SAP AP module, MS Excel and PowerPoint
Project management and problem solving skills, ability to support implementation of new projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management & Administration from an accredited college or university
