A typical day for the Senior Risk Analyst will include:
The team specialize in analyzing fraud patterns and creating and adapting advanced proprietary fraud prevention mechanisms in a global environment. The analysts overcome challenges presented by big data, evolving fraud techniques and new payment technologies by leveraging area expertise, data science, advanced classification algorithms and story-based analytics. They follow those mechanisms’ development process from start to finish, and work closely with technologists and developers to bring their analytical insights to life.
The ideal candidates are problem solvers, equipped with strong analytical skills suited to approach varied challenges in complex environments. Adept at creative and critical thinking, they are able to deconstruct the problem and transform personal insights into large scale, state-of-the-art solutions.
What does Success Look Like?
In your role as a Risk Analyst, you will:
Deliver decision strategies
Develop data-driven decision strategies to support the business’ global financial goals
Work with PayPal’s detailed business data to optimize performance and minimize financial loss across multiple products, global regions and financial systems
Support Product and Business Organizations
Guide the development of customer-facing products to enhance the PayPal experience around the world
Work to reduce friction, improve conversion and Risk decision accuracy through product changes
Support merchant integration, strategic partnerships and more by working with the Business Unit’s integration engineers and account managers
Drive End-to-End processes in the Risk organization
Manage long-term processes from start to finish
Measure performance against KPIs and goals
Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders and peers across the Risk organization and PayPal teams.

Bachelor’s Degree or above
2+ years work experience in relevant positions (e.g. Data analyst, statistician, data scientist, FP&A, product/process manager, risk management, army intelligence units)
Proven analytical skills- a minimum score of 700 on the psychometric test (or an equivalent) or 85 grade average from university in a quantitative field
Excellent spoken and written English – a must
Technical orientation (Experience with programming/scripting language / SQL – an advantage)
Familiarity with SAS/R – an advantage
Quick-thinker, fast learner, wide general knowledge, problem solver
Foreign languages – an advantage
